When Ms Chan Yuet Ping visited Hong Kong’s first traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) hospital days after its recent opening, she was expecting to receive just acupuncture to treat her lower back pain. Little did she know that the physician would prescribe physiotherapy as well. “The whole session took roughly an hour – first acupuncture, then physiotherapy, where I was guided to do exercises like cycling on the machines at the hospital,” the 70-year-old retired customer services worker told The Straits Times.
