The People's Committee of Hue City has just announced policies to stimulate demand and new tourism products, notably the project for developing medical tourism in the period 2026-2030, with a vision to 2035.
According to the plan, Hue will combine medical examination and treatment services, healthcare, rehabilitation, and recreation, leveraging its advantage as a specialized medical center in the Central and Central Highlands regions.

The city currently boasts strengths in modern medicine with many specialized techniques such as organ transplantation, cardiovascular intervention, heart surgery, and cancer treatment. Alongside this are its foundation in traditional medicine, abundant medicinal resources, the medical heritage of the Nguyen Dynasty, and hot spring resources.
Based on these advantages, the project identifies four key product groups: medical tourism using modern medicine; treatment and rehabilitation using traditional medicine; experiencing royal-style health care therapies and hot spring bathing combined with spa and relaxation.
The services planned to be offered include general health check-ups, cancer screening, cardiovascular interventions, cosmetic dentistry, and advanced surgical procedures at facilities such as Hue Central Hospital, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, and Hue International General Hospital.
The project aims to attract approximately 800,000 domestic medical tourists and 8,000-10,000 international tourists annually by 2030, with the goal of building Hue's brand as a leading center for intensive healthcare and medical tourism destination in Vietnam.

The Imperial Citadel of Hue is a heritage destination that attracts a large number of tourists who come to visit and experience it.
According to the plan, medical tourism can generate revenue not only from medical examinations and treatment but also from accommodation, food, transportation, and sightseeing. The length of stay for visitors typically ranges from a few days to several weeks, or even months, depending on their treatment and recovery needs. This also diversifies the customer base and reduces dependence on the seasonality of traditional tourism.
To implement the project, the city is focusing on investing in infrastructure, product development, human resource training, and brand promotion.
The Hue City Tourism Association has signed a memorandum of cooperation with healthcare facilities to strengthen linkages and develop specialized product packages.
On this occasion, the city also introduced the Hue TRIPO platform, an artificial intelligence application that supports the creation of personalized itineraries, cost estimates, heritage explanations, and online ticket purchases. In addition, Hue City announced two events planned for 2027: the Hue International Music and Heritage Week and the creative reality TV show The Hue Creators.
