A recent survey by the China Tourism Academy shows that more than 60 percent of inbound tourists list experiencing Chinese culture as one of their main reasons for traveling to the country.
In Sanya city of south China's Hainan Province, visitors from Russia, Germany and France were taking part in traditional Chinese wellness activities by the sea, combining climate, therapy and culture into a new "tourism plus wellness" experience.
"I knew about the very welcoming, family-like atmosphere of this clinic, so I came here for treatment and relaxation. And I discovered a magnificent sea," said Nali, a tourist.
In east China's Zhejiang Province, global tourists are learning to make herbal sachets at a centuries-old Chinese medicine pharmacy, getting hands-on experience with traditional herbs and practices.
"I have heard about traditional Chinese medicine for a long time, but I didn't expect what I saw. I was very impressed. Chinese medicine is very natural. Maybe that is one of the biggest advantages of Chinese medicine," said Peyov Peev, a Bulgarian tourist.
