For example, a medicinal food workshop at a hospital in North China's Tianjin Municipality, has introduced products such as the lotus leaf heat-relieving bun, bun containing Astragalus membranaceus (Huang Qi), and toast of Ophiopogon japonicus, all made with traditional Chinese medicinal herbs.
Likewise, a TCM hospital in Yangzhou, East China's Jiangsu Province, launched its own line of medicinal diet breads, which quickly became a local sensation. On the first day of its release, thousands of loaves were sold out within one hour. On social media platforms, Chinese-style bread shops have become trendy spots for internet celebrities to visit. Consumers actively share and discuss the flavors and textures of the bread, and frequently inquire about shop locations and purchasing channels, further fueling its popularity.
Apart from the development, TCM has already been stepping out of pharmacies and making waves in the food and beverage industry with the concept that "TCM can pair with anything." This trend includes TCM coffee, TCM ice cream, and even TCM mooncakes, as reported by People's Daily.
