Designated at the International Conference on Traditional Medicine held in Beijing in 1991, the World Traditional Medicine Day falls on October 22 every year.

Various activities have been held across China to embrace this day, which is aimed at encouraging people to use nature-based medicines. In many schools, students have also been offered the chance to learn more about traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), a significant treasure of Chinese civilization that embodies the wisdom of the nation and its people.

In both Huzhou and Chongqing, students from local schools appeared to share a similar sense of astonishment as they marveled at separate demonstrations of cupping therapy, a traditional Chinese method of healthcare.
