World Traditional Medicine Forum Online holds its 2021 Members' Meeting

On 19 December, the World Traditional Medicine Forum held its 2021 General Meeting online. The meeting was chaired by the Forum Chairman, Mr Dong Zhilin, and attended by the Forum's board members and members from around the world.

Forum Vice-Chairman Xia Linjun from Hungary presented the "Review Report on Promoting the Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the World", focusing on Forum's endeavors in building an academic exchange platform, a network information platform, promoting the legislation of traditional medicine in various countries around the world, and jointly fought against the COVID-19 epidemic, and successful cooperation with the WHO. He summarized and reviewed the main work of the Forum in recent years, and extended respect and heartfelt thanks to all colleagues who have contributed to the development of the Forum!
 
The forum treasurer Dong Hong from the Netherlands presented the "Forum Financial Report" to the conference. She reported in detail the various financial revenues and expenditures since the establishment of the forum in the form of charts.
 
The Secretary-General of the Forum, Guo Chunbiao from Italy, reported on "Forum Work Outlook in 2022", pointing out that the Forum will focus on the following tasks in 2022: (1) to continue to strengthen cooperation with the WHO and jointly host the Fourth Traditional Medicine Forum; (2) to continue to sum up experience and continue to organize the academic lectures of the forum;(3) to continue to do a good job in the network information dissemination of the forum; (4) to organize the 2022 global Chinese medicine practitioners Spring Festival Gala of the forum; (5) to hold face-to-face board meetings in due course according to the development of the epidemic and to complete the re-election of the board of directors.
 
The executive chairman of the forum, Lu Xin from the United Kingdom, presented the "Best Dedication Award" to the following model members in recognition of their contributions to the construction of the forum: Ren Tianrong (Netherlands), Yang Hongwei (Finland), Tian Lili (United States), Wang Zefeng (Sweden), Zhang He (Germany), Chen Qi (China), Wang Shu (Australia), Li Ye (Malaysia), Huang Xiangxin (Australia) ), Cao Xue (Netherlands), Liu Yanling (New Zealand), Liping Bartlett (UK), Luo Guihong (Hong Kong, China), Bu Tianmei (Canada), and Yi Xiaobai (Hungary).
 
The discussion session was presided over by Chen Yemeng, vice chairman of the forum. Members actively participated in the exchange and discussion in two forms, video speeches and text messages. The atmosphere on the scene was enthusiastic. Mr. Zhuang, Secretary-General of the BRICS International Cooperation Committee for Health and Medical Cooperation from South Africa, said that the BRICS countries hope to get help from Chinese medicine and look forward to cooperating with the forum. They hope that the forum will participate more in cooperations in the field of public health. They have established BRICS Traditional Medicine Committee. Professor Umberto Mazzanti, deputy dean of the Italian Academy of Acupuncture, said that he thanked the forum for its work in the past few years to promote the development of Chinese medicine in the world, and congratulated the conference for its success and wished everyone a happy new year. President Harm Elsinga of the Dutch Society of Acupuncture left a message: Traditional Chinese medicine should be used and respected more in modern Western medicine, and the forum has played an important role in this regard. Muhammad Nur from Indonesia congratulated the conference on its complete success and let Chinese medicine lead innovation.
 
Zhou Jun from China, Jiang Dan, Zheng Hongye, Tang Shulan from the United Kingdom, Wang Zhongbin from Belgium, Wang Zefeng from Sweden, Xu Bin and Shi Lingzhi from the United States, Huang Xiangxin and Zheng Jianhua from Australia, Yi Xiaobai from Hungary, Li Ye from Malaysia, Cao Xue from the Netherlands, Zhang He from Germany, and others successively spoke at the meeting. Everyone thanked Chairman Dong Zhilin for establishing the forum with great vision, fully affirmed the work of the forum in recent years, and offered suggestions on the future management model and construction development of the forum.
